Middle School and High School teens

    The pastoral care of the young people continues to be one of youth ministry’s goals.

During the weekend of June 6-7, 2009, twenty teens had an over night retreat at the parish hall. Three young adults from our community ministered to our teens, witnessing the love of Jesus Christ and teaching them the importance of knowing, loving and serving God! We thank Mo Rodriguez, Kiki Hernandez and Iris Curtis for their service!

On June 12-14, 2009, nine teens attended the powerful Steubenville Florida Catholic Youth Conference in West Palm Beach. Between Friday and Sunday they were joined by some 840 teens, learning more about who they are, who God is, discipleship, the path to holiness, prayer, chastity, being rooted in Christ, exposing lies, Mary and the Saints, and many more. Excellent speakers and musicians ministered to our teens through their witness of their faith journey, but the highpoint of the weekend was and will always be the Eucharistic Adoration, Benediction and Procession, bringing teens and all others down to their knees. The weekend ended with the blessing by the Bishop and priests, of some 30 teens who heard the calling to priesthood and religious life. One of these teens represents Good Shepherd Youth Ministry! We ask that you join us in praying for these young people.

In closing, we would like to thank our parishioners who prayed for us – teens and chaperones. We especially thank Ms. Sandy Hanes, Peter Rodriguez and Mr. and Mrs. Hopps, who, through their generous financial donations sponsored two teens and help six teens pay for their expenses.

Youth Ministry Night continues every Wednesday nights, 7:30 pm through 9:30 pm at the parish hall, for all middle school and high school teens. Come and check us out!
